Education & Experience:
Dr Liew Woei Kang is a pediatrician at Singapore’s Mount Elizabeth Novena Hospital.
He is a paediatric allergy, immunology and rheumatology subspecialist.
He offers extensive treatment for allergy conditions such as eczema, allergies to food and medications, asthma and allergic rhinitis. He also manages complex immunological conditions such as primary immunodeficiencies and chronic infection assessment, and treats rheumatological disorders such as Kawasaki disease, Henoch Schonlein Purpura, and juvenile idiopathic arthritis.
Dr Liew Woei Kang was a consultant paediatrician in the Allergy Service and Rheumatology & Immunology Service at the Department of Pediatrics at KK Women’s and Children’s Hospital prior to starting private practice.
At the Royal Children’s Hospital in Melbourne, Australia, he underwent specialized training in pediatric allergy and immunology.
At the Duke-NUS Graduate Medical School and Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, Dr Liew Woei Kang was an adjunct assistant professor. He continues to be a KK Women’s and Children’s Hospital visiting consultant.
In order to conduct clinical studies on paediatric anaphylaxis, drug allergy, primary immunodeficiencies and Kawasaki disease, he received multiple research grants from the National Medical Research Council, SingHealth Foundation and KKH Research Centre.
Dr Liew Woei Kang is passionate about medical education and received the Outstanding Young Teacher’s Award from SingHealth in 2007, and the Dean’s Award for Teaching Excellence from the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine in 2010.
He was also the recipient of 2007’s Outstanding Service Award and 2010’s Service with a Heart Award.
In his professional interests, Dr Liew continues to be actively interested. He is a member of the Asia Pacific Society for Primary Immunodeficiency Executive Board and the Chair of the Registry and Research Working Group.
He is also the immediate past president of Singapore’s Asthma & Allergy Society and the immediate past president of the Academy of Medicine, Singapore’s College of Paediatrics and Child Health Singapore.
He is one of the few local specialists to be awarded the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma & Immunology International Fellow.
