Biodata
- Dr Lim Tock Han served as the immediate previous director of the NHG Eye Institute at Singapore’s Tan Tock Seng Hospital.
- He completed a fellowship at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, USA. He is particularly interested in age-related macular degeneration (AMD) and polypoidal choroidal vasculopathy in his clinical and research work (PCV). He pioneered the use of Confocal Scanning Laser Indocyanine Angiography (CSLO-ICGA) for the diagnosis and treatment of PCV in the region, culminating in the establishment of the region’s first PCV imaging reading center (Fundus Imaging Reading Center, FIRC) and the EVEREST Trial (by Novartis), the first prospective randomized controlled trial of PCV.
- He founded the NHG-AHPL Residency Program and was one of the first institutions globally to be certified by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education International (ACGME-I).
- He is a Clinical Associate Professor of Ophthalmology at the National University of Singapore’s Division of Graduate Medical Studies, as well as an Adjunct Professor at Nanyang Technological University’s School of Materials Science and Engineering and Universiti Kebangsaan, Malaysia. He was also the founding President of the Academy of Medicine’s College of Ophthalmologists (Singapore).
- Prof Lim previously served as the National Healthcare Group’s Deputy Group CEO (Education and Research).
