Dr Look Chee Meng Melvin practices at Parkway East Hospital, Singapore, as a general surgeon.
Dr Look Chee Meng Melvin is a general surgeon with gastrointestinal surgery, therapeutic endoscopy (including ERCP), and specialized laparoscopic surgery sub-specialty knowledge. For the surgical treatment of esophageal, gastric, pancreatic and abdominal cancers, he is strongly involved in radical resection and systematic lymph node dissection.
Dr Look Chee Meng Melvin underwent further training in upper gastrointestinal cancer surgery at the National Cancer Center Hospital in Tokyo on a Ministry of Health Fellowship, and also spent a year serving as an honorary consultant in upper gastrointestinal surgery at the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh, UK.
Other training awards he won include a TTSH Scholarship in advanced laparoscopic surgery at the Mount Sinai Medical Centre, New York, and an International Cancer Fellowship at the Washington Cancer Institute in Washington DC from the Union Internationale Contre le Cancer for the Treatment of Peritoneal Cancer.
Dr Look Chee Meng Melvin also conducts a large range of minimally invasive surgery and has undergone a variety of specialized laparoscopic procedures for morbid obesity, including hand-assisted laparoscopic surgery, endoscopic thyroid surgery, and laparoscopic Swedish adjustable gastric banding.
In advanced laparoscopic surgery, Dr Look has helped train several local and regional surgeons. To seek encouragement from the Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons, he set up a training facility outside of America (SAGES).
