Dr Narmada Prasad Gupta is the Chairman of Urology’s Academics and Research Division. He entered the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) as a faculty member in 1979 after completing his specialization in Urology and rose to the rank of Professor and Head of Department (1998-2010). During his 40-year career in the field of urology, Dr. Gupta made significant contributions to the advancement of the science of urology at both the national and international levels.
He has completed more than 20,000 urological surgeries. He is a renowned surgeon who began robotic surgery in Urology at AIIMS in 2006 and has since conducted the most robotic surgeries in India in his specialty.
He served as President of the Urological Society of India (2007) and Asia (2008-10) in addition to being a National Delegate and Board Member of the Socitete Internationale D’ Urologie (2004-06). He has won many national and international awards, including the Padamshree of the Government of India (2007) and the Medical Council of India’s Dr. B. C. Roy National Award (2005).
