Education & Experience:
Dr Ngoi Sing Shang graduated in 1981 from the National University of Singapore and was admitted to the Royal College of Surgeons (Glasgow) in 1985, to the Royal College of Surgeons (Edinburgh) in 1985, and to the Royal College of Surgeons (Singapore) in 1986 as a Fellow.
Dr Ngoi Sing Shang held numerous positions as Medical Officer, Senior Teacher, Lecturer, Senior Lecturer, Associate Professor and Consultant Surgeon at both the Singapore General Hospital and the National University Hospital in Singapore prior to entering private practice at Gleneagles Hospital. Dr Ngoi has also been active in many academic roles at the Department of Surgery at the University of Hong Kong, the Endoscopic Unit of Queen Mary Hospital, St. Mark’s Hospital in the United Kingdom, and the Department of Surgery at the Cornell Medical Center’s New York Hospital.
Dr Ngoi Sing Shang is also a member of the International Society of Surgery (ISS), the Collegium Internationale Chirurgiae Digestivae (CICD), the Singapore Academy of Medicine, the American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons, and a member of the 1986 Faculty of Medicine Laser Committee of the National University of Singapore.
Clinical interests of Dr Ngoi Sing Shang include colorectal surgery, general and laparoscopic surgery, particularly cholecystectomy, appendectomy, repair of hernia and adhesiolysis. He also has interests, including gastroscopy and ERCP, in endoscopy.
