- Dr Philip Wong En Hou is a Cardiology Specialist. In 1989, he received his MBBS from the National University of Singapore. He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians in the United Kingdom, the Academy of Medicine in Singapore, and the American College of Cardiology. A/Prof Wong completed advanced cardiology specialist training at the National Heart Centre Singapore (NHCS). In his 26-year employment at NHCS, he has seen over 40,000 outpatient consultations and conducted more than 5,000 cardiac operations. He completed specialist training in Interventional Cardiology at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, Massachusetts, United States of America. He has educated a large number of interventional cardiologists and is currently an Associate Professor at Duke-NUS Graduate Medical School. Dr Philip Wong En Hou was previously an Adjunct Professor at Nanyang Technology University’s School of Materials Science.
- Dr Philip Wong En Hou is passionate in research, clinical innovation, and entrepreneurship. He was crucial in the establishment of NHCS’s first basic research laboratory in 2005, as well as the planning of the National Heart Research Institute of Singapore’s current research facilities in 2014. He has served as the Principal Investigator in a number of interventional cardiology trials and has authored over 65 peer-reviewed articles in the disciplines of cellular therapy, medical devices, and clinical trials. He is the inventor of over ten patents in the fields of experimental cell therapy and medical devices and is the founder of two medical start-ups in Singapore.
- General cardiology, cardiac catheterization, and percutaneous coronary intervention are among A/Prof Wong’s clinical specialties. He is skilled in intravascular ultrasonography, fractional flow reserve estimation, sophisticated coronary procedures, chronic total occlusions, optical coherence tomography, and rotablation. He is also proficient in non-invasive procedures such as echocardiography, ambulatory electrocardiography, ambulatory blood pressure, and treadmill stress tests. He is particularly interested in telemedicine and digital medicine, mobile and ambulatory home monitoring, and the therapeutic use of artificial intelligence.
