Dr Quek Hong Hui Richard works at Mount Elizabeth Hospitals and Gleneagles Hospital, Singapore, as a surgical oncologist.
The treatment of sarcomas, gastrointestinal stromal tumors (GIST), melanomas and lymphomas are his special interests.
Dr Quek Hong Hui Richard graduated in 1997 from the National University of Singapore and obtained training in internal medicine and medical oncology at the Singapore General Hospital and the Singapore National Cancer Centre (NCCS).
In 2008, at the Dana-Farber/Harvard Cancer Centre, Boston, USA, he was awarded the HMDP Fellowship to undertake advanced training and study in the area of soft tissue and bone sarcoma. And in 2009, to further his research work in the USA, he was awarded the National Medical Research Council Fellowship.
From 2013 to 2018, Dr Quek was the former deputy head of the medical oncology division of the NCCS. He also served as the program director of the SingHealth Medical Oncology Senior Residency Program at SingHealth during this time. He has won several distinctions, including the 2004 and 2005 Service Quality Awards and the 2013 and 2015 SingHealth Outstanding Educator Awards.
In 2013, he founded the Singapore Sarcoma Consortium and serves as co-chair of the Singapore Sarcoma Symposium every year.
In 2015, Dr. Quek also founded the Asian Sarcoma Consortium (ASC) and continues to lead the ASC, whose key goals are to improve research and education on sarcomas across Asia.
Dr Quek Hong Hui Richard has written more than 70 articles and continues to be actively interested in science and education in peer-reviewed journals.
