- Dr Salleh Ibrahim is a general surgeon who practices at Singapore’s Gleneagles Hospital. He is an expert in surgery of the liver, pancreas, and gallbladder, as well as abdominal cancer surgery, liver transplantation, minimally invasive surgery, and gastrointestinal endoscopy.
Dr Salleh Bin Ibrahim earned his medical degree from the National University of Singapore (NUS) in 1995. He began his surgical training at Singapore General Hospital (SGH) and was awarded a fellowship in 1999 by the Royal Colleges of England and Scotland.
He completed his postgraduate training in surgery at Changi General Hospital and Tan Tock Seng Hospital. During this time period, he received a Young Surgeon Award and authored many publications. He was instrumental in developing a curriculum for secure laparoscopic cholecystectomy preparation, which he has performed over 1000 times. He was promoted to Consultant in 2003 and continued his education abroad. - Dr Salleh Bin Ibrahim received his training at the world-famous Chang Gung Memorial Hospital under Prof Chen Chao Long, the first man in Asia to perform a liver transplant. The center has completed over 1000 liver transplants and countless liver resections, and is widely regarded as the world’s largest center for liver diseases.
Dr Salleh Bin Ibrahim completed a training stint in Japan under the tutelage of many eminent professors, where he honed his surgical and research abilities. He wrote a seminal paper on the protection of donor hepactectomy from the perspective of residual liver volume during this time period. This article garnered him several awards, including those from the Taiwan and Japanese surgical associations. He also took advantage of this opportunity to hone his skills in minimally invasive surgery by traveling to many European centers.
Dr Salleh Bin Ibrahim is also a board-certified endoscopist with experience performing endoscopic retrograde pancreaticograms. He is a qualified pancreas surgeon and co-authored a publication on a novel method of reconnecting the pancreas to the small intestine following cancer resection, a method that can provide patients with the safest and best outcomes.
Dr Salleh returned to Singapore and founded the Eastern Health Alliance’s hepatopancreatic biliary unit and liver transplant evaluation unit. In 2008, he received the Outstanding Long Public Service Award for his contributions to the public sector and to the education of the next generation of surgeons.
He has spent the last few years at Gleneagles Hospital, where he has gained additional expertise in liver transplantation and surgery. He has also been invited to speak as a keynote speaker at a number of regional conferences.
Dr Salleh is a member of the boards of directors of many charitable organizations. He is a clinical mentor at the medical school of the National University of Singapore (NUS) and a consulting consultant surgeon at Eastern Health Alliance.
