- Dr. Sharad’s primary emphasis is currently bariatric surgery. Have set up the Bariatric Units.
- Master’s degree in surgery earned in 1994.
- He was an assistant professor and graduate and postgraduate instructor at the MGM Medical College in Navi Mumbai. In 1998, he began doing laparoscopic surgeries. In 2003, he earned a Diploma in Advanced Laparoscopic Surgery from Dr. C. Palanivelu at Gem Hospital in Coimbatore (accredited by the Society of American Gastrointestinal Endosurgeons, SAGES). In 2006, he received D2 Gastrectomy training at NUH, Singapore.
- He received Fellowship (FIAGES) from the Indian Association of Gastrointestinal Endosurgeons in 2007. The Association of Minimal Access Surgeons of India granted him Fellowship in Minimal Access Surgery (FMAS) in 2008.
- He passed the Association of Surgeons for Metabolic & Bariatric Surgery’s ‘Essentials of Bariatrics’ examination in 2009. (ASMBS). In 2009, he received training in bariatric and metabolic surgery from Dr. Philip Schauer at The Cleveland Clinic in Ohio, United States of America.
- In 2012, he received the Fellowship in Advanced Laparoscopic Surgery (FALS) from the FIAGES.
