Dr Soh Wah Ek Abel is an endocrinologist working at Singapore’s Mount Elizabeth Hospital.
Specializing in endocrinology, he has clinical expertise in the treatment of patients with diabetes mellitus, thyroid, lipid, calcium, osteoporosis, obesity, and adrenal and pituitary disorders.
In 2010, Dr Soh Wah Ek Abel won the Health Manpower Development Award at the Joslin Diabetes Centre, USA, and received a fellowship in diabetes during pregnancy. He co-ran the Gestational Diabetes Joint Clinic along with obstetricians at the Singapore General Hospital (SGH) upon his return from the USA.
Dr Soh Wah Ek Abel started a pre-Ramadan therapy program at SGH for Muslim diabetes patients in 2011. He was awarded the Singapore Health Quality Service Gold Award the following year.
Dr Soh Wah Ek Abel actively engaged in SGH’s undergraduate and postgraduate teaching. He was an assistant adjunct professor at the Duke-NUS Medical School and a senior clinical lecturer at the Yong Loo Lin Medical School. He was also a key faculty member of the Internal Medicine Residency Program at SingHealth.
Dr Soh Wah Ek Abel has written and penned two book chapters in many peer-reviewed scientific journals. Previously, he was the vice president of the Singapore Obesity Research Association.
