Dr Steven D Mittelman became a member of the UCLA community in 1989, when he started his undergraduate studies in Biochemistry. He was pleased to be a part of the UCLA Marching Band’s Solid Gold Sound! After receiving a BS in Biochemistry from UCLA, Dr. Mittelman earned a PhD in Physiology and an MD from USC’s Keck School of Medicine. He did both his residency and fellowship in pediatric endocrinology at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles. Dr. Mittelman was appointed founding director of the Diabetes & Obesity Program and the Donnell Society for Pediatric Scientists at CHLA. He also served as the Director of the combined MD/PhD program at USC and Caltech.
