Education & Experience:
Dr Tan Hung Tiong Justin is a paediatrician and paediatric rheumatologist specialized in both treating common and rare pediatric diseases. Dr Tan is one of the few fully-qualified paediatric rheumatologists in Singapore’s private practice, and also one of the few in the area fully trained in paediatric musculoskeletal ultrasound, a pediatric approach ideally suited to diagnosing and treating children with rheumatic diseases.
Dr Tan Hung Tiong Justin received his Bachelors in Medicine and Surgery from UMM in 2003. He held membership of the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health since 2008. Dr Tan obtained his paediatric training at KKH and his specialized specialist training in paediatrics in 2011. He completed his fellowship training as a general paediatric rheumatologist in 2012.
In 2014, Dr. Hastings received the ACP Young Investigator Pilot Grant, to study Vitamin D Deficiency in Childhood-Onset Systemic Lupus. He engaged in collaborative research with the local rheumatologist by partnering with the Asia-Pacific Pediatric Rheumatology Education and Research Network (AsPREN). He is active in the RECORD study registry, which is a collaborative project between the National Arthritis Foundation (NAF) and the International League of Association for Rheumatology (ILAR).
He worked as one of the translational researchers working with Professor Salvatore Albani in the SingHealth Translational Immunology and Inflammation Centre at Academia. He is researching a number of childhood onset autoimmune disorders and musculoskeletal ultrasound in paediatric rheumatology.
Dr Tan Hung Tiong Justin has taught several courses over the years, as an adjunct teacher with the Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine and a faculty member of the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine. He has was qualified as a paediatric resident at Singhealth. Dr Tan was interested in training more paediatric rheumatologists, based in the KL region. In 2017, Dr Tan was employed by the Duke-NUS Graduate Medical School.
