Dr Tan Jye Yng Jane, a general surgeon with over 10 years of experience, is currently working at her Mount Elizabeth Novena, Mount Elizabeth and Parkway East clinics. She specializes in treating patients with tumors, complex perianal conditions, haemorrhoids, and functional bowel disorders with colorectal disorders.
Dr Tan Jye Yng Jane completed basic training after graduating from the National University of Singapore (MBBS, 1997) and then gained her postgraduate surgical qualifications (MRCS Edinburgh, 2000). She earned her Masters of Medicine (Surgery) the following year and was subsequently accepted in 2005 as a Fellow of the Academy of Medicine of Singapore (Surgery). In the same year,
Dr Tan Jye Yng Jane pursued a fellowship in Colorectal Surgery at the Royal Melbourne Hospital, Australia, through the Health Manpower Development Programme scholarship. While there, the University of Melbourne Research Meeting awarded Dr Tan the Sir Rodney Judson Prize.
Dr Tan Jye Yng Jane was a consultant with the Department of General Surgery at Tan Tock Seng Hospital prior to setting up her private practice. Contributing to the training of potential surgeons is something Dr Tan values and she won the Tan Tock Seng Hospital Best Instructor Award 2006-2007 in recognition of her efforts. She continues to work there as a Visiting Consultant.
Dr Tan Jye Yng Jane teaching interest extends to medical students. She is currently an Assistant Adjunct Professor at the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, Singapore National University, where she is engaged in the teaching of undergraduate and postgraduate students.
With her strong interest in science, Dr Tan naturally came to be interested in many clinical and laboratory studies. In many foreign journals, she has written papers and has been an invited speaker at many local and international surgical meetings.
