At the Alfred Heart Centre and Epworth HealthCare in Melbourne, Australia, Dr Tan was awarded the Healthcare Manpower Development Plan (HMDP) scholarship from the Ministry of Health to undertake subspecialty training in interventional cardiology.
In various international clinical trials, Dr Tan was a principal investigator and a co-investigator in several landmark trials at Tan Tock Seng Hospital.

Dr Tan Ko Beng Julian is a senior clinical lecturer at the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine and a Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine clinical nurse. He is also a key clinical faculty member of the cardiology senior residency program of the National Healthcare Association.
