Dr Tan Li Sher Felicia is a breast surgeon practicing at Singapore’s Mount Elizabeth Hospital. Her professional focus is in the treatment of breast cancer and the use of different surgical procedures to achieve the best patient oncology and cosmetic results. This involves breast preserving surgery (lumpectomy) with subsequent breast reconstruction and nipple/skin saving mastectomy.
Dr Tan Li Sher Felicia is also competent in the full spectrum of breast surgical procedures, including vacuum-assisted breast lesion biopsies. In Singapore, she invented the Radioisotope Occult Lesion Localization (ROLL) technique, which is used for identifying non-palpable breast lesions and surgical excision microcalcifications. She continues to conduct the full spectrum of procedures for general surgery.
The current research interests of Dr Tan Li Sher Felicia lie in breast oncology, especially in young women’s understanding of breast cancer. Her research history is in translational medicine, using tumor subtype molecular and genetic profiling to classify biomarkers that will aid in cancer diagnosis, prognosis and treatment. In 2007, to pursue her research interests, she won the prestigious Singapore Millennium Foundation Scholarship.
Dr Tan Li Sher Felicia is actively engaged in raising awareness of breast cancer. She is a committee member of numerous local support groups for breast cancer, including the Breast Cancer Foundation (the largest support group for breast cancer in Singapore). She was also invited both locally and globally to give lectures and public talks on topics related to breast cancer. She is a member of the International Women’s Association of Bali, which is active in the promotion of recognition and screening for breast cancer in Bali, Indonesia.
She worked as an associate consultant at KK Women’s and Children’s Hospital prior to beginning her own practice.
