Education & Experience:

Dr Tan Seng Hoe, a kidney doctor, has more than 20 years of experience in the field. He currently works at Mount Elizabeth Novena, Mount Elizabeth and Gleneagles Hospitals, where he sees patients with different kidney-related disorders from his clinics.

Dr Tan Seng Hoe graduated from the Faculty of Medicine of Singapore National University (MBBS, 1990). After completing his basic training in Internal Medicine, he obtained Advanced Specialist Training in Renal Medicine at the National University Hospital Nephrology Section. Then, in 2000, he sought further training in peritoneal dialysis at the Division of Nephrology at the University of Missouri-Columbia, USA, through the Health Manpower Development Program scholarship. In 2000, he was named as a Fellow of the Academy of Medicine, Singapore, and in 2004, of the Royal Colleges of Physicians of Edinburgh.

Dr Tan Seng Hoe was a senior consultant at the Renal Medicine Unit at Tan Tock Seng Hospital prior to joining private practice. He spearheaded the growth of the unit and subsequently served as the founding head.

The devotion of Dr. Tan to the field of nephrology extends into several areas. A keen believer in training and influencing future physicians, he is a senior clinical lecturer at the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine of the National University of Singapore. He also sits on the Professional Training Committee for Renal Medicine.

Dr Tan Seng Hoe is actively interested in different committees as well. The Singapore Society of Nephrology, where he was Honorary President, and the National Healthcare Community Domain Specific Review Board (Domain E), where he was Deputy Chairman, are some of the more relevant ones. In a research report, the Board guarantees the rights and protection of human subjects involved. Dr Tan is also a member of the board of the College of Physicians Chapter of Renal Physicians. In addition, he is an active member of the Singapore National Kidney Foundation’s Medical Advisory Committee, Tender Committee and Study Committee, as well as the Kidney Dialysis Foundation’s Medical Advisory Committee.

Dr Tan Seng Hoe received the Commendation Medal, National Day Award and the Bravery Star Award from the National Healthcare Community in 2003. The two awards were in recognition of his attempts to conquer SARS. Furthermore, Spring Singapore awarded him the Excellent Service Award (Silver) in 2008.
