- Tan Siong San, Adjunct Assistant Professor, is a Senior Consultant Surgeon with over two decades of clinical expertise.
- Dr Tan Siong San completed his training in general surgery and hepato-pancreato-biliary (HPB) surgery at Changi General Hospital and Singapore General Hospital. After successfully completing his Advanced Surgical Training, he was recognized as a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh in 2008.
- In 2010, he received a Singhealth HMDP Award to continue his training in HPB surgery and liver transplantation at Chang Gung Memorial Hospital in Linkou, Taiwan.
- Dr Tan Siong San was appointed Director of the HPB service at Changi General Hospital in 2011. Over the course of nine years, he assisted in expanding the HPB team’s expertise to include minimally invasive HPB surgery. While Dr Tan maintains proficiency in general surgery procedures such as hernia repair, stomach and colon resection, his primary focus is on providing evidence-based surgical care to patients with HPB illnesses such as liver and pancreatic cancer.
- Dr Tan is actively involved in the training of the next generation of doctors, serving as a Clinical Core Faculty member and member of the Program Evaluation Committee for the SingHealth General Surgery Residency Program. He is also a Clinical Teacher and Examiner at the National University of Singapore’s Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, where he received the Dean’s Award for Teaching Excellence in 2008/2009. In 2019, Duke-NUS elevated him to the rank of Adjunct Assistant Professor.
- Dr Tan accepts referrals for all types of cancer, with a particular clinical interest in hepato-pancreato-biliary surgery, which includes liver, gallbladder, bile duct, and pancreatic cancer therapy, as well as stomach, intestine, and colon surgery.
