Dr Tan Tse Kuang Charles, with 18 years of clinical experience, is a general surgeon. His interest in endocrine surgery and endoscopic hernia repairs is his subspecialty.
Dr Tan Tse Kuang Charles got his medical degree from the United Kingdom’s Leicester University. At the National University Hospital, he completed his general surgery training in Singapore. After that, at the Royal North Shore Hospital in Sydney, New South Wales, he pursued his subspeciality training.
Dr Tan Tse Kuang Charles began the robotic axillary thyroid surgery program as Head of the Endocrine Surgery Division in NUH. He currently has the most thyroid surgery experience in Singapore through axillary surgery. In addition to intensive thyroid cancer therapy, Dr Tan’s other recent procedures include minimally invasive parathyroid surgery under local anesthesia and key-hole adrenal surgery (trans-abdominal or retroperitoneal )
Dr Tan Tse Kuang Charles is currently the president of the Hernia Society of Singapore. More than 1,000 cases have been performed by him, 90% of which are performed via key-hole. To share his experience with fellow colleagues, he frequently conducts courses and master classes.
Dr Tan Tse Kuang Charles has a deep passion for teaching as well. At the Department of Surgery, he was voted the best mentor every year and still holds a position at the National University Hospital as a consulting consultant and adjunct assistant professor. He has published a best-selling OSCE book for students to further contribute to medical education.
