Dr Tan Yia Swam specialties include minimally invasive breast surgery, biopsy or aspiration driven by ultrasound, breast conservation surgery, skin-sparing/nipple-sparing mastectomy, and biopsy of the sentinel lymph node.
Dr Tan Yia Swam is experienced in a wide variety of breast disorders, including lumps, pain, nipple discharge, tumors, and irregular imaging, having spent more than 15 years in medical care.
Since 2008, Dr. Tan has been instrumental in serving the medical community by serving on the Singapore Medical Association Council and has recently been named as the first vice-president of the SMA Council.
She has also written and presented studies both locally and globally in papers and journals.
Dr Tan Yia Swam has won the KK Service from the Heart Award in 2016 as well as the Gold Award in the Singapore Health Quality Service in 2018 as a recognition for her patient-centric care.
She engages in outreach to the public, family practitioners and students through educational talks. With the Dean’s Award for Teaching Excellence, her passion and devotion to teaching has been acknowledged.
