Education & Experience:
Dr Teo Yee Sze is an orthopaedic surgeon with over 10 years of field experience. At his clinic at Mount Elizabeth Novena Hospital, he offers advanced treatment in adult reconstructive and trauma surgery.
He received basic training after graduating from the Faculty of Medicine at the National University of Singapore (MBBS, 1999) and then completed his postgraduate training in Orthopaedic Surgery (MRCS Edinburgh, 2002). He received his Master of Medicine (Orthopaedic Surgery) from the National University of Singapore the following year and was named a Fellow of Orthopaedic Surgery at the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh in 2007.
Then, he qualified in Adult Reconstructive and Trauma Surgery at the world-renowned Rorabeck Bourne Joint Replacement Clinic at the University of Western Ontario in Canada in 2008 through the Health Manpower Development Programme (HMDP) Fellowship Award. He was supervised there by leading orthopaedic surgeons, Professor CH Rorebeck, Professor RB Bourne and Professor SJ McDonald, and performed several extremely complex procedures for primary and revision arthroplasty.
Dr Teo Yee Sze was a consultant in the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at Changi General Hospital prior to forming his private practice. He was instrumental in developing and expanding the Adult Reconstructive Division within the hospital during his tenure. The years there also allowed him to gain extensive experience in complex surgeries for primary and revision arthroplasty.
For Dr Teo Yee Sze, research is of great importance. In peer-reviewed scientific journals such as the Journal of Arthroplasty and the American Journal of Sports Medicine, he has been awarded several research grants and has also published several research papers. Furthermore, as principal and co-investigator, he has participated in many multicenter trials, especially in the field of adult reconstructive surgery.
Dr Teo Yee Sze is a keen believer in educating and training future generations of physicians and orthopaedic surgeons, in addition to science. Since 2003, he has been a clinical mentor at the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine at Singapore National University, where he has spent time teaching medical students and postgraduate trainees. He was subsequently appointed Adjunct Assistant Professor in 2010, and at Changi General Hospital he was responsible for teaching medical students.
