Experience
- Dr Tham Weng Keong Ivan is a radiation oncologist at Singapore’s Mount Elizabeth and Gleneagles hospitals.
His specialties include head and neck cancers, lung cancers, and radiation oncology in general.
Since 2006, he has worked as a consultant, gaining experience in a number of treatment methods. Stereotactic radiosurgery (SRS), stereotactic body radiotherapy (SBRT) or stereotactic ablative body radiotherapy (SABR), image-guided radiotherapy (IGRT), strength modulated radiotherapy (IMRT), 3D conformal radiotherapy (3DCRT), and brachytherapy are all examples of these techniques. - Dr Tham Weng Keong Ivan previously served as head of department and senior consultant at the National University Hospital and Tan Tock Seng Hospital, in addition to serving as an associate professor at the National University of Singapore.
He obtained clinical and radiation oncology training at Singapore’s National Cancer Centre and Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust in the United Kingdom.
He is a member of the Residency Advisory Committee at the moment (Radiation Oncology). He has served on a number of other committees within the Ministry of Health, including the Proton Beam Therapy Advisory Committee and a subcommittee of the National Advisory Committee on Cancer.
From 2017 to 2018, he also served as vice president of the Federation of Asian Organizations for Radiation Oncology.
Dr Tham is an active participant in clinical cancer science, having co-authored over 60 peer-reviewed publications in the fields of clinical oncology, radiation oncology, and imaging. His publications have been cited more than 1,500 times by other scientists.
He has taught both locally and internationally, delivering lectures in Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Taiwan, Vietnam, and Japan. Additionally, he has contributed to over five textbook chapters on oncology.
