- Dr Wong Kit Yee Karmen is widely recognized as one of Asia’s leading oncologists, with nearly two decades of clinical experience. She pioneered Singapore’s first multidisciplinary breast cancer treatment over a decade ago. This entailed building a forum for treating other cancers with doctors from various disciplines. Dr Wong also pioneered Singapore’s bone marrow transplantation program in 1997. She was instrumental in establishing Singapore General Hospital’s multidisciplinary tumor board and Breast Cancer Clinic.
- Dr Wong delivered the first Asian report on cancer care behaviors among Asian patients at the American Society of Clinical Oncology’s Annual Meeting in 1999. Additionally, she has published peer-reviewed articles and chapters in textbooks. Dr Wong also serves on a number of boards, including those for the Singapore Oncology Society, the National Council of Cancer Services, and the Singapore Breast Cancer Workshop. She is also a member of the Ministry of Health’s Specialist Training Committee, the Breast Cancer Foundation, and the Ministry of Home Affairs’ Board of Visitors to Changi Prison.
