Education & Experience:
At St Mary’s Hospital Medical School (now known as Imperial College of Science, Technology and Medicine), University of London, Dr Wong Poo Sing received his undergraduate medical training in 1986. In 1990, he received a Fellow’s degree from the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh and began higher specialist training in cardiothoracic surgery at London Chest Hospital and London Royal Brompton Hospital.
Dr Wong Poo Sing completed his training and won the Intercollegiate Specialization Test in Cardiothoracic Surgery in the United Kingdom in 1995. From 1996 to 2001, he returned to Malaysia and was assigned to lead and begin cardiothoracic surgery at Sultanah Aminah Hospital. In 2001, in the Medical Achievement category, he won the Outstanding Young Malaysian Award.
