- Dr Yang Ching Yu is the Medical Director of Raffles Hospital and a General Surgeon. Dr Yang Ching Yu graduated from the University of Singapore with an MBBS in 1980. He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons (Glasgow) and the Academy of Medicine (Singapore) since 1986 and 1992, respectively. Dr Yang completed his advanced specialized training at The Cleveland Clinic in Ohio, USA, where he served as a special Fellow in the Departments of Colorectal Surgery and Gastro-Intestinal Surgery in 1989 as a result of a Singapore Government Health Manpower Development Plan Scholarship.
- Apart from general surgery operations, Dr Yang has a special interest in colorectal surgery and considerable experience with diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy. Dr Yang has done over 20,000 colonoscopy operations on his own. Dr Yang was the primary surgeon at Raffles Hospital in July 2003 when the Korean Ischio-pagus conjoined twins were successfully separated. Dr Yang is a founder member of the Association of Endoscopic and Laparoscopic Surgeons of Asia, the ASEAN Colorectal Surgeons Association, and the Singapore Society of Colorectal Surgeons. Additionally, he is a member of the American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons and the International Society of University Colorectal Surgeons.
