Dr Yegappan Muthukaruppan practices at Parkway East Hospital, Mount Elizabeth Hospital and Mount Elizabeth Novena Hospital, Singapore, as an orthopaedic surgeon. He is a specialist in orthopaedic sports medicine and is predominantly interested in arthroscopic knee and shoulder reconstructive surgery.
From 2002 to 2003, he held a fellowship in sports medicine at the Methodist Sports Medicine Centre in Indianapolis, USA. His interest in sub-specialties is in the treatment of knee and ankle cartilage lesions. With both the first and second generation techniques of chondrocycte implantation, Dr Yegappan has treated cartilage defects. In addition, he also has a particular interest in the treatment of several knee dislocation ligament injuries. Other problems Dr Yegappan treats include injuries to the rotator cuff, impingement of the elbow, broken meniscus, and other sports injuries.
Currently, the experience of Dr Yegappan Muthukaruppan in arthroscopy has made him an instructor in Singapore and the ASEAN area for the ISAKOS basic and advanced arthroscopic workshops. In the ASEAN region, he has travelled extensively to teach and perform live surgery.
