- Dr Yong Wee Boon Derek is a cardiologist who specializes in interventional cardiology at Gleneagles Hospital in Singapore.
His specialties include coronary CT angiography and invasive and interventional cardiology.
He is particularly interested in complex coronary intervention. He has extensive experience assisting patients who suffer from complex bifurcation disease, left main coronary disease, bypass graft disease, and chronic complete occlusion (CTO). - His therapies include advanced interventional procedures such as rotational atherectomy and invasive coronary imaging procedures such as intravascular ultrasound (IVUS) and optical coherence tomography (OCT).
Dr Yong Wee Boon Derek previously served as the chief cardiologist and clinical director for the heart failure services and clinical program at JurongHealth’s Ng Teng Fong General Hospital and Jurong Community Hospital.
He was instrumental in establishing the invasive and interventional cardiology facilities at Ng Teng Fong General Hospital.
Dr Yong is also a physician core faculty member of the cardiology senior resident program at the National University Hospital of Singapore, where he actively shares his experience and expertise.
He is a clinical professor at the National University of Singapore’s Faculty of Medicine.
Dr Yong is a consultant general and interventional cardiologist with full practising privileges in Australia.
Dr Yong is an avid tennis player outside of work and was a member of the Singapore National Team. He has won multiple tennis championships and is also the youngest person to ever represent Singapore in the Davis Cup international competition.
