Dr Tamara Basarab is a consultant dermatologist with more than 25 years of experience in the profession. She has experience working with both adults and children. Tamara received her specialist dermatological training in London, where she gained a diverse range of experience in a variety of hospitals, primarily at the extremely prestigious national centre of excellence St John’s Institute of Dermatology, where she was mentored by prominent experts.
In 1999, she was hired as a consultant dermatologist at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital, where she developed and managed the skin allergy program and cared for inpatients and patients with dermatological problems. In addition, she worked at Queen Mary’s Hospital in Roehampton, where she oversaw busy dermatology clinics and treated a wide spectrum of skin disorders.
Dr Tamara Basarab went on to work in the Skin Cancer Screening Clinic there and was a key member of the skin cancer interdisciplinary team at St George’s and Queen Mary’s Hospitals.
She is an expert in all aspects of dermatology as a highly experienced dermatologist. Acne and isotretinoin therapy, mole reviews including dermoscopy inspection, skin cancer screening, eczema, psoriasis, rosacea, and acute rashes are among her specialties.
She values a sympathetic approach to caring for her patients, as she recognizes the substantial psychological impact that skin, hair, and nail illness may have. She consistently obtains positive comments from her patients.
Dr Tamara Basarab has a number of dermatology papers in peer-reviewed journals as well as book chapters to her credit. She has also presented at national and international gatherings, winning a prize from the British Association of Dermatologists for one of her talks.
Throughout her career, she has mentored countless junior doctors in dermatology and continues to give GPs lectures and educational workshops. She is a dedicated physician with a deep interest in her field.
