Dr Alex A Adjei is an Oncology Consultant, Oncology Professor, and Pharmacology Professor at the Mayo Clinic and Mayo College of Medicine in Rochester, Minnesota. Co-Leader of the Developmental Therapeutics program at the Mayo Cancer Center, he manages oncology drug development and lung cancer research and treatment across all three Mayo Clinic locations.
Dr Alex A Adjei has worked on a variety of committees at the US National Cancer Institute (NCI). Between 2007 and 2013, he chaired the NIH Study Section NCRR Clinical Research Review Committee, which evaluated CTSAs. From 2010 to 2014, he was a member of the Clinical Oncology Study Section (CONC), and from 2013 to 2017, he reviewed Cancer Centers as a member of NCI IRG Subcommittee A. Currently, he serves as co-chair of the NCI’s Thoracic Malignancies Steering Committee. Dr Alex A Adjei worked on many committees for professional organizations. Former President of the Minorities in Cancer Research Council of the American Association for Cancer Research and member of the Board of Directors of the International Association for the Study of Lung Cancer, he is currently Faculty Coordinator for Developmental Therapeutics and a member of the Gender Medicine Task Force of ESMO. Dr Alex A Adjei serves on the Committee on Diagnosing and Treating Adult Cancers of the US National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine, which is responsible for presenting the US government with a report on this issue (Social Security Administration). He serves as the Chief Editor of the Journal of Thoracic Oncology and the JTO Clinical and Research Report.
