Professional Statement
Dr Ariel, MD, is a member of the UCLA Psychiatry Department’s faculty. He is the medical director of UCLA’s psychiatric emergency services and a psychiatrist providing acute treatment in the emergency department and inpatient settings. In addition to his outpatient practice, Dr. Seroussi is an attending physician at the UCLA Mood Disorders Clinic. The LA County Department of Mental Health has accepted his computerized method for filing involuntary holds in psychiatry, which he designed as part of clinical informatics initiatives aimed at enhancing patient care and physician efficiency. Dr. Seroussi is also involved in the UCLA Depression Grand Challenge, a campus-wide effort to change depression research and treatment delivery.
Dr Seroussi graduated from UC Berkeley with a BA in Psychology and Phi Beta Kappa. He subsequently spent two years doing bench research in emotional and addiction neuroscience at the Ernest Gallo Clinic & Research Center at the University of California, San Francisco, where he served as laboratory manager in the Howard Fields Lab. Dr Seroussi obtained his medical degree from UCSF and finished his psychiatric residency at UCLA. American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology has qualified him as a diplomate in Psychiatry.
