On the East Coast, Dr Markowitz was born, reared, and schooled. He earned his bachelor’s degree from Rutgers College in 1974 and his medical degree from New York University in 1979. He then completed two residencies at the New York University Medical Center in general surgery and cosmetic surgery. He completed a one-year fellowship at Johns Hopkins Medical Center, focusing in face trauma and microsurgery. In 1985, he obtained board certification in general surgery, and in 1989, in plastic surgery.
Dr Bernard is linked with a number of regional institutions, including UCLA Medical Center and UCLA Santa Monica Medical Center. He has been practicing law for almost 20 years.
