Dr Bonnie, MD, MPH is a Child & Adolescent Psychiatry-specialized Professor-in-Residence, Associate Director of the UCLA Center for Health Services and Society, and Associate Chair for Academic Affairs of the UCLA Department of Psychiatry and Biobehavioral Sciences. Dr Zima’s research focuses on increasing the quality of mental health treatment for children, with a focus on Medicaid-funded outpatient services and underserved, at-risk kid groups. Her research focuses on the identification of high unmet need for mental health care among high-risk child populations, national pediatric hospitalization resource utilization and costs, the validity of national quality measures, pediatric integrated care models, pediatric workforce development, and the application of technologies and clinical informatics to enhance child mental health care.
Her study has been honored by the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry with all three national research awards (AACAP). Dr. Zima is also a member of the U.S. Child and Adult Core Set Annual Review Workgroup, the Center for Medicaid and CHIP Services, the APA Council on Quality Care, the Behavioral Health and Substance Abuse Steering Committee for the National Quality Forum, and the AACAP Committee on Research. She is the Consulting Editor for the Journal of the American Academy of Child & Adolescent Psychiatry, the Deputy Editor for the Journal of Child and Adolescent Psychopharmacology, and a Distinguished Fellow of the AACAP and APA. She has been practicing law for almost twenty years.
