Professional Statement

Dr Christopher Giza is a graduate of Dartmouth College, West Virginia University, and the University of Pennsylvania, where he did his internship. UCLA provided Dr Christopher Giza with training in adult and pediatric neurology. Before joining the UCLA Brain Injury Research Center, he was a member of the Yosemite Search and Rescue team. Dr Christopher Giza flew to Afghanistan in 2011 as a Department of Defense civilian adviser. From 2009 to 2013, Dr Christopher Giza co-chaired the committee of the American Academy of Neurology that established the evidence-based Practice Guideline for the Management of Sports Concussions. He now works on TBI/concussion advisory groups for the CDC, NCAA, MLS, and USSF, and has previously served as a clinical consultant for the NFL, NHL, and MLS. He is the head of the UCLA Steve Tisch BrainSPORT program and a professor of pediatric neurology and neurosurgery at the David Geffen School of Medicine and Mattel Children’s Hospital.
