Following that, he completed a fellowship in hand surgery at the Royal North Shore Hospital in Sydney, as well as a fellowship in cosmetic surgery in London. In 2001 and 2002, he worked as a cosmetic surgeon on Harley Street for roughly a year.
He is currently engaged in a number of research projects. In 1994-5, he studied wound healing as a Research Fellow at Harvard Medical School and Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, for which he received a Fulbright Traveling Scholarship.
From 2007 to 2012, Mr Bantick served as the Lead for Plastic Surgery (head of department) at Chelsea & Westminster Hospital.
Mr Bantick is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and a lecturer at Imperial College Medical School. He is also interested in teaching, instructing medical students at all levels.
Dr Giles Bantick collaborates with a team of hand therapists and a Consultant Radiologist who specializes in ultrasound scans and ultrasound guided hand surgeries in his hand surgery practice. Many hand disorders can be assessed with an ultrasound scan, which can typically be done during the initial consultation.
All forms of hand injuries and diseases, such as carpal tunnel syndrome, arthritis, and Dupuytren’s disease, are of particular interest to Mr Bantick. He sees a lot of elite athletes with hand injuries and problems, as well as muscians with hand issues.
Mr Bantick’s plastic surgery business specializes on the excision of skin lesions (such as cysts, moles, BCCs, and skin malignancies, as well as lipomas) and the repair of scars (steroid injections and surgical removal).
