In 2003, Dr Ho Choon Kiat was awarded the Health Manpower Development Programme (HMDP) scholarship, enabling him to undergo subspecialty training in hepatobiliary and pancreatic surgery at the Surgical Klinik of the University of Heidelberg, Germany.
There, under the mentorship of renowned surgeons Professor Marcus Büchler and Helmut Friess, Dr. Ho received comprehensive training in the management of pancreatic cancer and cancer surgery in general.
Continuing his pursuit of excellence, Dr. Ho received the TTSH Scholarship in 2004, allowing him to undergo formal training in advanced laparoscopic surgery at the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital. Under the guidance of Drs.
Les Nathanson and Nick O’Rourke, he honed his skills in laparoscopic liver, pancreas, and bile duct surgery. Upon his return, Dr. Ho established an advanced laparoscopic service, offering these specialized procedures.
Before establishing his private practice, Dr. Ho served as a consultant at the Department of Surgery, Tan Tock Seng Hospital, where he also held the position of Director of the Endoscopy Centre. His dedication to the field was further demonstrated by his service on the Executive Committee of the Chapter of General Surgeons, College of Surgeons, from 2011 to 2017. Dr. Ho is also a founding member of the Hepatobiliary Pancreatic Association of Singapore.
