- Dr Khng Yen Wei Christopher graduated from the National University of Singapore with a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS). He completed his training in general medicine at Singapore General Hospital (SGH), National University Hospital (NUH), and Toa Payoh Hospital (TPH). His ophthalmology residency was completed at the Singapore National Eye Centre (SNEC), Tan Tock Seng Hospital (TTSH), and the National University Hospital (NUH). During his residency, he served as Chief Resident, Department of Ophthalmology, TTSH & NUH. Dr. Khng completed his ophthalmology fellowships (local) / Advanced Surgical Training (AST) rotations at SNEC in the areas of glaucoma, cornea, paediatric ophthalmology, vitreoretinal disease, oculoplastics, cataract, and comprehensive ophthalmology. He is a member of the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, the European Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, and the American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO).
Dr Khng Yen Wei Christopher previously worked at the AsiaMedic Eye Centre as a Senior Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon for Complex Cataract and Anterior Segment, Reconstruction Surgery and Director of Cataract Surgical Services. From July 2003 to April 2007, he was also a Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon for Complex Cataract and Anterior Segment Reconstruction Surgery at The Eye Institute’s Cataract, Implant, and Anterior Segment Service at TTSH. Additionally, from August 2005 to July 2006, he served as a Visiting Consultant in Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences at Alexandra Hospital.
Between 24 November 2003 and the completion of his Health Manpower Development Plan-awarded scholarship, he performed Anterior Segment Reconstruction, Complex Cataract, and Lens Implant Surgery in Oregon, USA. On 12 August 2004, he also lectured to the University of Cincinnati Ophthalmic Residents on Iris suturing techniques. Dr. Khng was instrumental in the creation of the Khng-Fine Limbal Calming Incision (LRI) Marker by ASICO (Westmont, Illinois, USA), a series of straight Bimanual Irrigating Chopper tips by MicroSurgical Technology/MST (Redmond, Washington, USA), and the MicroSurgical Technology/MST Dense Nucleus Rim Breaker (Redmond, Washington, USA). - Dr Khng Yen Wei Christopher is fully licensed to practice medicine in the United Kingdom and is currently on the list of overseas inactive physicians. He is an ophthalmologist at Gleneagles Hospital.
