- The Digestive Health Institute was established by Dr. Muffazal Lakdawala. He is also the Director of Surgery at Mumbai’s Sir H.N. Reliance Foundation Hospital and Research Centre, Department of General and Minimal Access Surgical Sciences. Dr. Lakdawala has performed countless procedures in India and overseas throughout the course of his 16-year career; as a qualified laparoscopic surgeon, he specializes in Bariatric surgery and GI Oncology surgery. Internationally renowned for his pioneering work in scarless bariatric surgery, he is also an avid researcher in the field of diabetic surgery.
- The famed Grant Medical College in Mumbai was his alma mater, and BYL Nair Hospital was where he got his master’s degree in surgery. He had additional training in bariatric surgery at the Cleveland Clinic in Ohio and the University of Ghent Hospital in Belgium, as well as in Advanced Colorectal Cancer surgery in Seoul, South Korea. He has numerous published works to his credit.
- Dr. Lakdawala is a member of Asian Endosurgery Task Force’s governing board (AETF). As if that weren’t enough, he is also the president of the Asia-Pacific branch of IFSO.
