- Dr Patricia Kho Sunn Sunn is a board-certified medical oncologist with over two decades of expertise. She previously worked at Mount Elizabeth Novena and Gleneagles Hospitals in Singapore. She is particularly interested in tumors of the lung, head and neck, breast, and gastrointestinal tract. She has worked in public hospitals in Singapore, including National University Hospital and Tan Tock Seng Hospital.
- Dr Patricia Kho Sunn Sunn graduated from Newcastle University in the United Kingdom and worked at Singapore’s National University Hospital (NUH) before completing her specialist postgraduate training in medical oncology at the Sydney Cancer Centre, Royal Prince Alfred Hospital (now known as Chris O’brien Lifehouse) under the mentorship of Professors Michael Boyer, Stephen Clarke, and Alan Coates. In 2003, she was awarded a fellowship by the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP).
- Her interest in translational research and the pursuit of personalized cancer treatments prompted her to work at the Genome Institute of Singapore from 2002 to 2003 under the supervision of Prof Edison Liu. She then earned a Master of Philosophy (Medicine) from the University of Sydney for her research project, “Optimizing Adjuvant Treatment for Colorectal Cancer.”
- In 2005, Dr Patricia Kho Sunn Sunn relocated to Sydney and was named Head of the Department of Medical Oncology at Liverpool Hospital, a public university hospital in the city. During this time period, she was also the Director of the clinical trials unit and a clinical lecturer. In 2009, she chose to join a private practice at Sydney Adventist Hospital in order to devote more time to scholarly pursuits. Simultaneously, she was a visiting scientist at Sydney’s Garvan Institute of Research.
- Dr Kho returned to Singapore in 2010 (having missed Singaporean Laksa) and has since continued to devote her energies to providing treatment and care as a Senior Consultant in Medical Oncology at Gleneagles and Mount Elizabeth Hospitals.
- Dr Kho is a member of the American Society of Clinical Oncology, the Australian Medical Oncology Group, the International Lung Cancer Association, the Australian Lung Trials Group, and the Australasian Gastrointestinal Trials Group.
