Dr Ravi Shankar earned a university gold medal in his final year at VIMSAR. Following that, he completed his basic general surgery training at GSVM Medical College in Kanpur, where he won awards such as first place in the UPASICON conference. Following that, he completed his basic neurosurgical training at the G.B. Pant Institute of Post Graduate Medical Education and Research (GIPMER) in New Delhi, where he earned a silver medal in the Best Paper Award for his thesis work in DNACON.
He trained in advanced microneurosurgery in Mumbai, Helsinki (Finland), and Sapporo as part of his search for advanced neurosurgery knowledge (Japan). He perfected his surgical skills as Professor (Asst. ), Neurosurgery at Safdarjung Hospital & Vardhman Mahavir Medical College, New Delhi, and Apollomedics Super Speciality Hospital, Lucknow, where he performed several groundbreaking surgeries such as high flow EC-IC bypass and epilepsy surgeries after receiving training at various centers. Dr. Shankar received his Fellowship in Cerebrovascular and Microneurosurgery from the University of Helsinki in Finland.
During his ten-year career as a neurosurgeon, he has won several awards. He’s also given talks at a number of national and international conferences.
