Dr Rupen Dattani graduated from the University of Wales with a medical degree and went on to complete his orthopaedic training at the South West Thames specialized registrar program. At University College London, he earned a doctorate of medicine (MD) in orthopaedics.
Mr. Dattani was awarded two outstanding fellowships in shoulder and elbow surgery, one in Cambridge with Mr. Graham Tytherleigh-Strong and the other in Reading with Professor Ofer Levy at the world famous Reading Shoulder Unit. Mr. Dattani also completed a trauma fellowship in Vancouver, Canada, at a Level I trauma center. Mr. Dattani has a highly specialized clinical practice in shoulder and elbow arthroscopic (keyhole) and arthroplasty (joint replacement) surgery, as well as surgery for fractures around the shoulder and elbow joints, thanks to these fellowships.
Dr Rupen Dattani has always had a strong research ethic and believes that the great quality of medical treatment that we have today is the result of well-controlled research. Mr. Dattani has over 20 peer-reviewed articles to his credit and has presented his work at national and international conferences.
His main research focus is on evaluating patient outcomes after shoulder surgery. Mr. Dattani is the author of a book that is used to teach and train surgeons in training, as well as book chapters in orthopaedic textbooks.
