Professional Statement

Dr Russell is a pulmonologist and critical care physician with an outpatient clinic in Westwood. He also treats hospitalized patients at UCLA facilities in Westwood and Santa Monica, as well as at the West Los Angeles VA Medical Center. His principal therapeutic interests include COPD and Alpha-1 antitrypsin (AAT) deficiency, a rare lung illness. He also treats patients with asthma, lung cancer, and pulmonary fibrosis in addition to general pulmonary patients. Internal medicine, critical care medicine, and pulmonary illness are his board certifications.

Dr Buhr performs clinical, translational, and health services research on therapies and strategies to prevent COPD exacerbations and keep patients with advanced lung disease out of the hospital, in addition to his clinical practice. This study seeks to assist individuals with COPD or advanced lung illness in maintaining their independence and being as healthy and active as feasible. To accomplish this objective, he is studying the use of telemedicine and other innovative methods to assist these patients in managing their lung condition at home.
