  • Dr Su Jang Wen is a cardiothoracic surgeon who practices at Singapore’s Gleneagles Hospital.
    He is particularly interested in minimally invasive surgery techniques such as video assisted thoracoscopic surgery (VATS), which he has successfully applied to coronary artery bypass surgery, valvular surgery (aortic, mitral, and tricuspid), atrial septal defect closure, arrhythmia surgery, ventricular aneurysm repair, and acute ventricular septal rupture.
    He is particularly interested in the treatment of critically ill cardiac and thoracic surgical patients and is involved in the provision of membrane oxygenator (ECMO) services, conducting between 25 and 30 ECMO procedures per year through multiple private hospitals.
  • Dr Su Jang Wen is a cardiothoracic surgeon who is board certified in both heart and lung surgery. Dr Su Jang Wen has performed over 5,000 heart, lung, and esophageal surgeries since 2007, and he currently performs over 350 surgeries each year.
    Dr Su Jang Wen graduated from the University of Melbourne, Australia, in 1998 with a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery. He was later admitted to the Royal College of Surgeons (Edinburgh) in 2002 and earned a Master of Medicine from the National University of Singapore in 2003.
    In 2006, he was elected a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons (Cardiothoracic Surgery, Edinburgh) and received the Fellowship examination’s gold medal. Dr Su was elected a Fellow of the Academy of Medicine (Singapore) – Gold Medalist the following year.
    Dr Su Jang Wen received a Health Manpower Development Plan fellowship from the Singapore Ministry of Health in 2007. He was named Chief Fellow of the Cleveland Clinic’s Thoracic Surgery and Lung Transplantation Program in the United States of America. He also completed a fellowship in adult cardiac surgery at the Cleveland Clinic, where he was trained by a number of world-renowned surgeons and was recognized for his best research paper.
    Dr Su returned to Singapore in 2009 as a consultant in the cardiothoracic surgery department at the National Heart Centre Singapore. He has served as an adjunct assistant professor at Duke-NUS Medical School and as a clinical physician faculty member for SingHealth’s residency program, where he oversaw the training of residents in thoracic surgery.
    He is a member of the International Society of Minimally Invasive Cardiothoracic Surgery (ISMICS), the International Society of Heart Lung Transplantation, the Singapore Oncology Society, the Singapore Cardiac Society, the Singapore Thoracic Society, the Singapore Heart Lung Transplant Society, and the Singapore Chapter of Cardiothoracic Surgery.
    Dr Su has presented at international meetings and won Best Paper Awards for many of them. He has also lectured internationally on minimally invasive cardiac and thoracic surgery.
    He has written articles on cardiology and thoracic surgery in a variety of peer-reviewed international medical journals and co-authored the textbook chapter “Minimally Invasive Approaches to Lung Cancer” in Greene’s Minimally Invasive Cancer Management.
    In 2012, Dr Su was awarded the Gold Service Quality Award by SingHealth and the National Heart Centre Singapore.
