Work Experience
- Trained at the prestigious Mayo Clinic in Rochester, USA, Dr Suresh Raghavaiah is a Liver and Pancreas specialist and a Multi-organ Transplant Surgeon. After his General Surgical training from St Johns Medical College, Bangalore he completed a Minimally Invasive Hepato-Pancreatico-Biliary Surgical fellowship from L’Institut Mutualiste Montsouris, Paris. Pursuing his interest in Immunology, he completed a Post Doc research fellowship in Transplant Immunology form Mayo Graduate School and was thereafter selected to complete the Abdominal Multi-organ Transplant Fellowship at Mayo Clinic.
- After returning to India, He was instrumental in setting up the HPB and Liver Transplant Unit at Dayanand Medical College, Ludhiana and thereafter led the HPB and Multi-organ Transplant team at BGS Global Hospital, Bangalore which is credited with having performed the maximum number of Liver transplants in Karnataka. His team has also performed the maximum number of Pancreas transplants in the state and third highest in India.
- Dr Suresh Raghavaiah is a Multi-organ Transplant Surgeon with expertise in Liver, Kidney and Pancreas Transplantation. He is also a specialist in treating liver diseases (Hepatitis, Jaundice, Cirrhosis, Portal Hypertension, Liver Cancer and Neuroendocrine tumors), Gallbladder and Biliary diseases (GB Stones, Cholecystitis, Gallbladder Cancer, Cholangio-Carcinoma) and Pancreas Disorders (Pancreatitis, Pancreas Cancer). - Dr Suresh Raghavaiah has over 17 years of experience as a GI, HPB, and multi-organ transplant surgeon.
His surgical interests include liver transplantation, kidney transplantation, pancreas transplantation, operations for kidney, liver, and pancreatic cancer, bile duct cancer surgery, bile duct surgery correction, and more.
He has conducted numerous operations, including: - 800 kidney transplants
- 400 liver transplants, including those from cadavers and living donors.
- In excess of 200 liver resections,
- 150 pancreatic operations and
- 32 laparoscopic pancreatic necrosectomies.
- Dr Suresh Raghavaiah has performed the most pancreas transplant surgeries in the Indian state of Karnataka.
- Numerous international presentations and publications are credited to Dr. Raghavaiah.
- Dr Suresh Raghavaiah belongs to the Liver Transplant Society of India, the IHPBA, the Indian Medical Association, the Priestly Society of Surgeons, the Multidisciplinary Transplant Inpatient Round Committee, and the American Association of Transplant Surgeons.
